Two years ago, who would have thought that we are now in the midst of an epidemic. We are constantly in a state of panic, and every day is filled with uneasiness. But, on the other hand, as long as we stay at home all the time, we feel very safe.
When the number of confirmed cases in Malaysia exceeds 20,000, do you ever feel nervous because of a sudden headache or cold? We fear that we are diagnosed everyday, and we reassure ourselves that we are now healthy individuals. We used to take vitamin C once a week, but now we take it every day. We used to run around campus, but now we meditate at our desks at home. We used to only have to carry our phones and wallets when we went out, but now we have to grab masks and disinfectant along with us.
Although our actions are limited, we can also approach life with a different mindset. We stay at home every day, we can explore the diversity of this society through the Internet, we will find many things that we didn’t know before, and our knowledge will be improved unknowingly. As for me, I discovered Dr. Clo Covid-19 and was intrigued by his ideas; I discovered that every country has its own historical rhythm, and was frustrated with the past thoughts that the world could be a constant era, etc. Through exploration, our mind will be further baptized, just as the disinfectant has brought us a lesson at this stage — “remove the harm from ignorance and embrace safety from the insipid”.
If you have to go shopping for your daily necessities, remember to disinfect yourself and your purchases when you get home. If you have to leave the house for work, remember to disinfect your office during the workday. If you have to travel, remember to disinfect your vehicle before every different passenger gets on. If you have to stand guard on the front line of the fight against the epidemic, please remember to remind yourself every moment to do a good job of disinfection.
As the calendar turns page after page, the epidemic has not gone away with yesterday. Big lifestyle changes that seem to be happening overnight can feel like they’ve been happening for ages. Everything that happens during this period is constantly reminding us to appreciate the moment, to be positive, to be happy, to be with family, to be healthy. So, please stay safe and healthy!
